Real-time video computing on FPGA
The association Rob’Otter, as part of its robotics activity, needs to develop a vision system based on a color camera.
This system was initially able to recognize objects according to their color. Moreover, it had to be flexible and enable a processing of information as quick as possible.
The material we used is a card ARMadeus AFP9328 with a FPGA enabling to process information and an ARM for analysis (following the objects, ...). The design presented here is compatible with almost all FPGAs.
The application framework originally planned and the performance of design will be presented in the introduction.
After a brief presentation of the FPGA, their capabilities and an introduction to image processing, you will be presented electronic architecture, as well as acceleration methods implemented.
Other possible applications as well as expected developments will be exposed in conclusion.
