We will present the drawbacks of previously developed natural language processing tools at LINA (Nantes Atlantic Computer Science Laboratory) that encourage us to start a migration. We will present the choice and selection of UIMA and its role in our collaboration with academic and industrial partners. Finally, we will present some components we developped for this framework.

Matthieu Vernier is a PhD. student in computer science at Laboratoire Informatique de Nantes Atlantique (LINA), mixed research unit CNRS-University of Nantes. He works in the area of natural language processing and especially on automatical categorization of opinion discourse and subjectivity detection on blogs.

Stergos Afantenos is a post-doc in the "Laboratoire Informatique de Nantes Atlantique" (LINA) which is a research laboratory shared between CNRS and the University of Nantes. He is working on the domain of Natural Language Processing and more specifically in the detection of instances of text reuse.
