Summary
I’ll first explain the interest of libre software for the education systems in the southern countries as a whole and for Mauritania in particular. Then I’ll give our school feedback using the following libre software :
Lodel for scientific contents production online, that we’re using for our international scientific journal : Revue Africaine de Didactique des Sciences et des Mathématiques (RADISMA).
GNU/Linux operating system
Claroline for web courses management
PHP/MySQL to create and manage dynamic web sites
Creation of education modules projects with the Cognifer platform
Basic internet uses for groups management : KDE/GENOME ; Mozilla ; OpenOffice ; E-GroupWare and, soon, Wiki.
I’ll conclude by explaining our needs and our vision of future.
